KAT BORROWDALE

  • Executive Director

Inspired by her own journey through the challenges of learning physical activity, Kat found that circus opened doors in her whole approach to life, and is passionate about passing this on to others through teaching and performance. Kat is one of Scotland’s foremost hula hoop artists, is part of a juggling duo, and also loves to be upside down in a handstand whenever she can. She has performed circus in every continent.

As Executive Director, Kat leads on the strategic delivery of Think Circus’ objectives, manages the core team and carries out fundraising. Kat’s experience in the Scottish arts and performance scene spans over ten years and includes mentoring young artists, touring the Commonwealth Youth Circus across Scotland, and event delivery for large cultural events. She holds a degree in English Literature and a Diploma in Physical Theatre Practice.

A THRIVING Community of performers and Teachers

Since our inception in 2017, we have brought circus to over 12,500 participants with our captivating workshops and shows, spreading joy and leaving a mark on communities throughout Scotland. Collaborating with esteemed organisations like YMCA, LGBT Youth, the National Trust, the Greenspace Trust and Sustrans, we’ve made a significant impact on women, young people, and families in Leith, reaching areas that need it the most with our circus projects. Our proudest achievement is running regular youth programmes in Craigmillar and Leith.
